The Death of Leonardo da Vinci

Clos Lucé is near the Château d'Amboise, which was a royal residence. Francis I had become a close friend and patron of Leonardo, who lived at Clos Lucé for the last three years of his life.

The château was all but abandoned in the early 17th century. It still stands today however, and is maintained by the comte de Paris (the current head of the House of Orléans, and one of the pretenders to the defunct French crown as Henry VII).
